Through all of it

There’s a song I hear from time to time on Christian radio.  The lyrics begin,

I have won

And I have lost

I got it right sometimes

But sometimes I did not

Life’s been a journey

I’ve seen joy, I’ve seen regret

Oh and You have been my God

Through all of it

Oh and You have been my God

Through all of it

I did a quick search on the internet and discovered this video.

The video does a good job applying the lyrics to real-life situations.  Challenging situations such as:

  • when you give birth to a child with special needs,
  • when something goes terribly wrong when all you wanted to do was help,
  • when you receive a diagnosis that can change your life forever,
  • when you can’t kick that eating disorder,
  • when your step father commits suicide on your 12th birthday,
  • when at 12 you were sold into sex traffic by your mother,
  • when you had a horrible accident and no one thought you would live.

These might be examples of challenges which some of you have experienced. Others may not be able to relate to these examples at all; but you’ve had other challenges of your own – some of which would reduce the strongest of us to our knees.

Colton Dixon, the singer continues,

You [God] were there when it all came down on me

In those unclear moments You were the One keeping me strong

This is how my story alway’s gone

When we feel like we’re all alone, fighting as if it all depended on us, Colton continues,

And this is Who You are

More constant than the stars up in the sky

All these years of our lives, I

I look back and I see You

One of the young girls interviewed for the video shares that she can

do anything through Christ who strengthens her

Please read that line again. In our weakness it is then that we can do anything because of Who Christ is in our lives. Left alone to ourselves, we can’t do much; but with Him, we can handle whatever life throws our way.

Through all of it, God, You have been my God.

Thank you Ben Glover and Molly E. Reed for writing this beautiful song, and thank you Colton Dixon for singing it so masterfully for us all.

Peace friends,

Through all of it ” is one of my favorite songs! I also love “Just Be Held” by Casting Crowns.
” So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away…. You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held”

    What a comforting feeling……

Oh Chuck, this is beautful, all these stories of redempition make me stronger in my faith that God does it all and I have to live my life in Him. Thanks for sharing.
